**IG Port Announces Merger Between Animation Studios Production I.G and Signal.MD**
IG Port has revealed plans for a merger between its subsidiary animation studios, Production I.G and Signal.MD, effective from the start of their fiscal year on June 1. As a result, the Signal.MD brand will be dissolved. Since both studios are subsidiaries of the same parent company, no exchange of assets, money, or stock will occur.
The merger aims to enhance operational efficiency and increase profitability by better managing the resources of both studios. Production I.G will maintain its current structure, though the future placement of Signal.MD’s employees and executives has not been clarified.
Port IG, which owns Wit Studio (known for *Attack on Titan*) and manga publisher Mag Garden, continues to strengthen its position in the industry.
Signal.MD, founded in October 2014 by Katsuji Morishita, is currently led by President Takatoshi Chino. The studio’s most recent projects include the anime adaptation of *Nina the Starry Bride*, as well as notable films like *The Wonderland*, *Napping Princess*, *DEEMO Memorial Keys*, and *Colorful Ninja Iromaki*. Signal.MD also co-produced the mech series *Shinkalion: Change the World* alongside Production I.G.
Meanwhile, Production I.G is renowned for its contributions to the *Ghost in the Shell* and *FLCL* franchises, with recent works including *Uzumaki*, *Housing Complex C*, *Fena: Pirate Princess*, *Kaiju No. 8*, and *Terminator Zero* (in collaboration with Netflix and Skydance).
