Marvel’s *Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* premieres this Wednesday, marking the culmination of years of development and months of anticipation—well, a couple of months at least. Disney+ has kept details about the series under wraps until just a few weeks before its release, but the final trailer gives us an exciting glimpse at what’s to come.
The latest trailer introduces new clips showcasing additional characters like Scorpion, Doctor Octopus, and Daredevil—voiced by Charlie Cox, reprising his live-action role. Interestingly, this version of Daredevil exists in a completely separate reality from the MCU, allowing for more creative freedom with both the narrative and visual elements.
As executive producer Brad Winderbaum explains in the video, one of the series’ key themes is its exploration of the sixties aesthetic popularized by Steve Ditko. The cel-shaded animation captures the Silver Age style, but it also introduces newer characters like Nico Minoru—who wasn’t part of Spider-Man’s original circle of friends. This reimagining gives fans a look at how she might have appeared in Ditko’s iconic style.
There’s hope that Nico will retain her powers in this version, especially with the appearance of Doctor Strange—proving that magic and supernatural abilities exist in this world. A quick glimpse of a newscast also suggests that familiar Marvel heroes like Captain America, Black Widow, and Ant-Man already exist in this universe, and possibly the Avengers as a whole.
*Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man* features Hudson Thames (Peter/Spidey), Colman Domingo (Norman Osborn), Eugene Byrd (Lonnie Lincoln), Grace Song (Nico Minoru), Zeno Robinson (Harry Osborn), Hugh Dancy (Otto Octavius), and, of course, Charlie Cox (Daredevil: Born Again) as Daredevil. The series launches on Disney+ January 29.
